Ticket To Work
What is the purpose of the ticket legislation?
To reduce the barriers to employment by providing new incentives and choices of service providers to those receiving SSI and/or SSDI.
What is a ticket?
A ticket is issued by the Social Security Administration and will allow you to get help in returning to work or going to work for the first time.
Do I have to use my ticket?
No, this program is voluntary. If you do not want to participate, you may throw your ticket away.
If I want to participate, what do I do when I get my ticket?
Take your ticket to your local SCVRD or to an Employment Network.
How do I get a list of the Employment Networks (ENs)?
Call the Program Manager at Maximus toll free at 1-866-968-7842 or (TTY: 1-866-833-2967), or visit yourtickettowork.com for a list of South Carolina ENs.
What does "using my ticket" mean?
This means that you have assigned your ticket to SCVRD or an EN and are making timely progress towards employment.
Once I begin using my ticket can I quit?
Yes. You may take your ticket out of assignment for any reason. You may even reassign your ticket if you wish.
When does my ticket terminate?
Your ticket will terminate when you are no longer eligible to receive SSI or SSDI benefits or the month in which you turn 65.
What does “making timely progress” mean?
This means active participation in your employment plan as defined by the Social Security Administration.
What is an Employment Plan?
This is a plan to provide you with the services and supports you need to work and to reduce or eliminate your dependence on benefits.
What if I fail to make timely progress?
If you are not making timely progress, it will be determined that you are no longer using the ticket to work and you will once again be subject to continuing disability reviews.
If it is determined that I am no longer using my ticket to work, can I start using it again?
Yes. You will need to contact Maximus toll free at 1-866-968-7842 (TTY: 1-866-833-2967), and meet the timely progress guidelines.
What are some advantages to using my ticket?
When a ticket is being used, there is availability of Continuing Disability Review protection, availability of extended Medicare and Medicaid coverage, and expedited reinstatement of benefits.
Is there someone who can give me more information?
